David 29th September 2019

I worked with Caroline from the time she first came to the University of Bristol in 1994, until my retirement in 2011. She was a highly valued colleague, who always gave more than she needed to, worked with graciousness and good humour, and was loyal and empathetic. While an expert in colonial Latin American History, in conversations about research, whether participating in seminars or casual conversations in the corridor, she had that rare gift of building bridges and finding commonalities with other research areas. Her passing is mourned not only by her close family and friends, but by those of us in the academic community who had the pleasure of working alongside her. David
