I didn't work with Caroline on a daily basis when I was in the Faculty Manager in Arts but I considered her one of the colleagues who made it such a good place to work. She was warm, helpful, insightful and very sensible, guaranteed to help you find a solution to even the trickiest of conundrums. Her concern for, and commitment to her students was evident. There were some tough times in HiPLA but through it all Caroline was measured, professional and humane, whatever she was feeling inside. When I moved elsewhere in the University, I loved bumping into Caroline (particularly along the back corridor in Arts) as we caught up and found out how each of us were doing. I find it hard to believe that those chance but warm and friendly encounters will be no more. That's as nothing to the loss of her family and close friends. She is missed. Paula
