Since I joined the School of Modern Languages (Russian department) 20 years ago, Caroline has been a constant gentle presence. I have always been impressed by her ability to bring stillness into what is often a frenetic and driven environment. She bore the burden of work, particularly during her time as School Education Director, with quiet grace. I am sad that she did not live long enough to 'enter her rest', and I hope that she rests now.
