I got to know Caroline when I joined the School of Modern Languages in 2012 and worked closely with her over four years when she was School Education Director. It is hard to accept that I won’t run into her on the corridor again and that we won’t agree to “catch up soon”. She was universally liked and respected by both students and colleagues. I will remember her wisdom and diplomacy with fondness. Caroline was a great help to others in challenging times, and I admired her level-headedness and strength of character in tackling difficult moments with audiences both large and small. I am grateful for her example and her insights. It was a privilege to have known and worked with her. We will miss her. Ian
