Caroline was a person of great professional, and personal, integrity. She was principled, tenacious, and fearless. She was a superb Deputy Head of School and Education Director, and I was deeply grateful to her for her prodigious hard work, her sure expertise, and her keen insights. Caroline's exciting collaboration with the Bristol earth scientists was bringing a whole new dimension to her research, and to interdisciplinary research generally. Caroline was justly proud of her distinguished service as President of the Society of Latin American Studies. Professional to her fingertips, Caroline brought generosity, warmth and a keen sense of fun to everything she did. She sparkled! We all feel sorely the injustice of her early death. I miss Caroline, and I will remember her always with deep admiration and affection.
