Patience 5th September 2019

My memories of being part of the Society for Latin American Studies committee are so bound up with Caroline that it's hard for me to think of SLAS without thinking of Caroline. Each of those memories is of Caroline's warmth and humour, of her listening and offering support. During the Aberdeen SLAS conference, when I was down about some organising aspect or other that hadn't been just as I wanted it, Caroline sat with me, listened and made me feel better. I can see her sitting at that table with me, and enjoying herself at that conference dinner the night before. She created and shared community. She will be sorely missed.
