When I look back on my time as Dean Caroline is one of the colleagues who stand out in my memory. At the time we were instituting far-reaching reforms in the Faculty, with many intense discussions and sharply divergent views. Caroline's contributions were always thoughtful, measured and thoroughly professional, with the best interests of everyone in mind. I valued that tremendously. And just bumping into her and chatting about this and that was always a bright spot in any day. I shall miss her very much and send the most heartfelt sympathy to her family.
