Emer 25th August 2019

I had the good fortune to know Caroline for her 25 years at Bristol University, first as a colleague in my role as Subject Librarian for HiPLA and later, as a friend. As a colleague, she was gentle and professional and consummately courteous and considerate. She was also, however, much more than this and as I got to know her better, I found that Caroline was also sincere, principled, warm, caring and compassionate. In conversations over coffee and lunches, we talked about matters ranging from university business to family bereavements and our shared sense of the comfort that faith can bring at times of bereavement. I still find it hard to believe that she has been taken from her loved ones so prematurely and can only offer my deepest sympathy to Richard, Stephanie and all her family and I hope that they can find some comfort in the knowledge that she was so well regarded and loved by so many. Caroline’s last words to me when I visited her in hospital a few weeks before she died were “And thank you for the prayers”. Rest in peace, dear Caroline. Sent by Emer
