I first met Caroline about 25 years ago, when I was made to feel like an honorary member of the Hispanic Studies Department at the University of Bristol. Caroline always made me feel so welcome, and since then both she and Richard have been part of the family. She was always so generous, kind, and giving. Although I never worked directly with her, she was always enthusiastic about her activities at the university and was a well-liked teacher, undertaking such interesting research. She was taken from us far too soon and will be deeply missed.
